Weaves (2025, 30’)

Synopsis: For centuries, a group of women of a small town in Minas Gerais, Brazil, have transformed thread into fabric preserving a tradition that was once the only means of producing cloth in this region. More than artisans, they are artists and they know it, mastering the rhythms of the handloom, with skill and pride. As they approach retirement, they reflect on lives spent at the loom–on the beauty of the work, the bonds between them and the uncertain future of their craft.
This film captures their artistry, resilience and the urgent need to document the legacy that risks fading into history.
